Daypane is a household calendar and weather display for Google TV and Android TV. It is provided by Conner Sanzone in the United States. Questions and privacy requests can be sent to privacy@daypane.com.
What Daypane accesses
When you choose to connect Google Calendar, Daypane asks for permission to view the list of calendars you subscribe to and to read events from the calendars you select. Daypane does not request permission to create, edit, share, or delete Google Calendar events.
During phone setup, you choose up to eight calendars and may give them household labels or colors. Daypane also stores settings you choose, such as weather location, units, display theme, and layout.
How Google Calendar data moves
Calendar event contents—including titles, times, locations, descriptions, and attendees—are requested directly by your TV from Google. Our backend does not receive or store those event contents. Your TV keeps a private local cache so it can continue showing the last known information during a temporary outage.
To maintain access after setup, our service stores an encrypted Google refresh token. It also stores the identifiers and display metadata for the calendars you selected, a pseudonymous account identifier, and the public key that identifies your linked TV. The encryption key is kept separately from the database. A Google refresh token is never stored on the TV.
Trial and purchase data
Daypane uses Google Play to process a free trial and one-time purchase. Google Play processes payment details; Daypane receives purchase and entitlement status rather than your card information. Our service stores the information needed to prevent repeated trials and to restore or verify access. After account deletion, a non-reversible, separately keyed marker may remain solely to record that the Google account has already used a trial.
Weather and diagnostics
Your TV uses the weather location you choose to request forecasts directly from weather providers, currently the US National Weather Service and MET Norway. Weather settings and the last successful forecast may be cached privately on the TV.
Release versions may use privacy-minimized Sentry crash reporting to diagnose failures. Diagnostic reports may include app version, device model, operating-system version, a random installation identifier, and technical crash details. They do not intentionally include calendar contents, Google tokens, exact weather coordinates, screenshots, view hierarchy, or request URLs. You can turn diagnostic reporting off in the app.
How we use and share data
We use data only to provide, secure, support, and improve Daypane. We do not sell personal information, run behavioral advertising, or use Google user data for advertising, credit decisions, or training generalized artificial-intelligence models. Service providers such as Supabase, Google, Sentry, and the weather providers process limited data only for their relevant functions.
Daypane's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Retention and deletion
Account, device, selected-calendar, encrypted credential, and entitlement records are kept while your Daypane account is active. Active Google credentials are revoked when practical and deleted within 24 hours after unlinking or account deletion. Expired pairing sessions are removed within 24 hours. Security and diagnostic logs are retained for no more than 30 days where provider controls allow.
Calendar events cached on the TV remain until replaced, you sign out or reset Daypane, app data is cleared, or the app is uninstalled. Daypane excludes private credentials and caches from Android backup.
See Delete your Daypane account for available deletion methods and exactly what remains.
Security and children
Daypane uses encrypted transport, device-bound credentials, short-lived access tokens, and access controls appropriate to the data it handles. No internet service can promise absolute security.
Daypane is designed for adult household organizers. It is not directed to children and does not create child accounts. An adult controls Google authorization, setup, and purchase.
Your choices
You can hide or unlink calendars, sign out, reset the TV, disable diagnostic reporting, revoke Daypane in your Google Account permissions, or delete your Daypane account. Contact privacy@daypane.com if you need assistance.
Changes
We may update this policy as Daypane changes. The effective date above will change when material revisions are published.
